What is Cannon Quest?
Cannon Quest is a physics based simulation/game which allows the player to explore a miniature 2-D solar system using real physics. If you've ever wanted to learn how satellites stay in orbit, or why the planets circle the sun, Cannon Quest is right for you.
Why Cannons?
Cannon Quest was inspired by the Sir Isaac Newton's 1687 book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Latin for Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy)
If you stood atop a tall mountain and fired a cannon off the side, one of three things might happen:
1. If your cannon isn't strong enough, the cannonball will fall down and hit the ground (sub-orbit)
2. If the cannon is too strong, the cannonball will fly off forever and never return (escape)
3. The cannonball will fly off into space, circle the planet, and hit the back of your head (orbit)
